Katy wants to live in Engurland

KATY PERRY may sing about California Gurls but she can't wait to become British.
The American singer says she will apply to become a citizen of the UK as soon as she ties the knot with RUSSELL BRAND.

Katy said: "When I get married next month, one of the first things I'll do is apply for dual citizenship.

"I'm not too sure if I have to take a test as I've not had time to look into it. But England is like my second home."

If the Yanks are happy to welcome our funnyman Russ into their bosoms, we'd gladly take Katy and hers - let's face it, she's far better looking.

I've done some research and she'd either have to live in the UK for at least three years after the wedding - or start sending Home Secretary THERESA MAY some presents, because she has the power to push cases through.

Katy could even phone MADONNA for advice.

Madge settled in the UK after marrying her now ex-husband GUY RITCHIE nearly ten years ago. Although I can't see the soon-to-be Mrs Brand dressed in tweed and going hunting like Madge did.

Katy, in the UK promoting second album Teenage Dream, attempted to be more tight-lipped than usual about her fiancé.

She said: "I'm trying not to speak about Russell and am concentrating on my music. I'm trying to keep a hold on the celebrity thing. I'm a singer."

But that didn't last long. After a few minutes Katy was back on the subject of the former swordsman.

She said: "There's a track on the new album called Firework, which is about him directly. It's my favourite."

Out in London, wearing a T-shirt saying happy, Katy added: "I'm the happiest I've ever been, as you can see by my top."

Katy is one of the most in-demand music stars and has a wedding to organise - but has still made time to vet Russell's new book My Booky Wook 2, due out for Christmas.

She said: "I'm halfway through reading it. It's dark."

Russell is out in New York on the set of his new movie Arthur, while Katy is here until the weekend. Her album has stormed to No1 by a mile in the US and is set to go straight to top spot in the UK chart this Sunday.

Even if it takes a while for her to become an official UK citizen, we're happy to adopt her as an honorary Brit any time.
